Get Ready, We’re Walking for Water
For the past year and a half, we at First Presbyterian have been partnering with Water Missions, a Charleston-based organization which provides water treatment facilities to millions of families in developing countries.
The Mission Committee has decided to “step it up a notch” and has organized a community walk to educate folks about this important project as well as raise money. MARK YOUR CALENDARS: Saturday, Oct. 14, starting at 10 am at the Live Oaks Park on Paris Avenue, Port Royal.
Our Walk will simulate this trek to raise awareness of the global water crisis here in our community. Each participant will start the Walk with an empty bucket. About half-way through, they will fill that bucket with water and complete the remainder of the course. We hope that all participants end the Walk with a better understanding of the challenges people around the world face daily in search of something that we often take for granted – water.
You can register on line http://events.watermissions.org/site/TR?fr_id=1781&pg=entry, to join our team, FIRST PRES MISSION COMMITTEE, or form your team with your neighborhood, your book club, your Sunday School Class. And if you can’t be part of the walk, you can still donate, again online, to this important project.
Got questions? Ask Nan Krueger, Mission Committee Chair or Jeneane Ryan, Water Mission Subcommittee Chair.
